President's Christmas Card
Each year, the La Sierra president would come to me looking for a creative and positive Christmas card. Each year we’d try to provide something better than the last. I was out of ideas for 2017’s card which lead to these less than conventional design methods.
One afternoon, a colleague and I were walking around the campus when we thought it could be fun to create a wreath out of California native plants. A perfect image to send those in colder weather.

We gathered all the plants on campus, built the wreath and photographed it in an afternoon.
The design and message was kept simple in order to give the wreath more emphasis.
All the plant types were included in a postscript at the bottom of the card:

"At La Sierra University, our Christmases may not be white—but they are full of the bright colors of Southern California. This special wreath was constructed using materials grown on campus, such as bougainvillea, palm leaves, kumquats, and more."
